Everyone is encouraged to participate in music ministry. Music is an important part of the life of Gambrell. Music enhances worship and almost every other important aspect of church life. And music can be a personally fulfilling avenue of service and life-long enjoyment.
We offer music development and training opportunities for all ages. Choir begins with those aged three. Each child is encouraged to take full advantage of the opportunities offered. Our children’s music leaders are remarkably qualified: several have college or graduate music degrees. Our children’s choir program is intended to be among the first steps in a lifetime of music involvement. As children promote into the youth ages, Youth Choir becomes the focus of their ministry through music.
Youth Choir is for those in grades 7th-12th. They meet on Sunday afternoons during the school year. Occasionally, they join the Sanctuary Choir for Sunday morning worship leadership. They also work on projects with other choirs such as “YouthCue.” When our youth graduate, they have had the opportunity to learn a great deal about music and worship. It is our hope that they will continue in music ministry for the rest of their lives.
The choral experience continues for our adults. The most visible choir is Sanctuary Choir which helps to lead in the service on Sunday morning each week. Sanctuary Choir rehearses on Wednesday eveings. JOY Choir (Sr. Adults & Friends) meets to rehearse on Monday mornings. JOY Choir shares periodically during the evening worship service, as well as singing in area retirement centers and nursing facilities.
We also have an excellent Handbell Choir called JuBellate. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings during the school year and periodically share their music in the worship services. This group also helps lead out and sponsor "Day of Handbells" workshop held at GSBC each year.
Each music group at Gambrell is intended to provide leadership in worship. And every musical offering in worship is intended to glorify God and to help others to worship God.
