Music is a very important part of the Gambrell Street tradition. We believe that music is much more than entertainment – it is a very important part of worship. We praise the Lord and learn scriptural truths through the texts. The Psalmist says, “Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Sing to the Lord; bless His name. Each day proclaim the good news that He saves.” (Psalm 96:1-2 NLT)
The whole Gambrell Street congregation becomes a choir praising God and telling of His mighty works. We have a music program that teaches music and worship skills to better facilitate our worship experiences for all ages. The leaders of our school-aged music groups are talented musicians who love children and love the Lord. They are committed to equip our children for a lifetime of worship through music.
The Children's Choir builds upon the fundamentals begun in the Preschool Choir. The children develop skills that will help them grow spiritually, physically, mentally, and socially. They continue to learn about God and His deep love for us. Musical activities teach the basics of music -- pitch, rhythm, dynamics, phrasing, tone quality, etc. They begin to sing in parts, and play a wider variety of Orff instuments. Moving in rhythm helps to develop physical coordination skills. Finally, working as a team, they develop friendships and social skills. The Children's Choir occasionally provides leadership for our worship services.
Our Children's Choir meets on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 and is open to children in first through sixth grades.
